The UCB Training Center teaches quality comedic scenes which focus on one central comedic idea: referred to as "The Game" of the scene.
Students will be taught:
1) Identifying "games"
2) Heightening - finding new ways to make your scenes get funnier from start to finish
3) Realizing how patterns support the "game"
4) Second beats (returning to scenes later in a piece).
Course meets for 8 sessions, each 2 hours long.
online course uses Google Classroom and Google Meet programs to conduct
live sessions with your instructor and fellow students.

Sarah Claspell, teacher
Sarah is an actress, writer and improvisor who has been studying at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre since 2006. She has been seen on Harold Night with the improv teams Dybbuk, Monstro & Cardinal Redbird, on Maude Night with the sketch teams High Treason, Neighbor Boy and The Get Go, on the character team Characters Welcome, and in many improv, sketch and variety shows at UCB. She currently performs with Cardinal Redbird on Tuesday nights at 9:30pm at UCB Franklin and with the Asian superteam Voltron at the monthly showcase Asian AF.
Small screen writing and acting credits include Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Drunk History, Comedy Bang! Bang!, Tales of Titans, Vag Magazine and some other fun shows and commercials.
Sarah moved to Los Angeles after sampling all the pizza in New York. She has trained with members of the Royal Shakespeare Company and is a member of the Loft Ensemble Theatre.
