Understanding the fundamentals will be achieved through exercises and scene work in class, seeing improv shows at UCB Theatre and reading the UCB Comedy Improvisation Manual.
Students are required to see at least 2 improvised shows at UCB Theatre before the end of the course.
Course meets for 8 sessions, each 3 hours long.
Students will take part in a class performance, generally held at UCB Theatre.

Improv 101 students are required to acquire the Upright Citizens Brigade Comedy Improvisation Manual by class #2. The Manual can be purchased for non-refundable $25 at UCB Theatre, UCB Training Center NY, UCBstore.com or Amazon.com.

Dave Theune, teacher
Dave Theune is an actor/comedian. You can see him at UCB Franklin every Friday at 8pm with his improv team Bangarang, and on the 4th Wednesday of every month at 7pm with his silent soundtrack team Sassy Bluff at UCB Sunset.
In addition to several UCB credits including Midbest and Maude Night, Dave has also performed at the Del Close Marathon in NYC, the San Francisco Sketch Festival, the Seattle Sketch Festival, and with iO Chicago & L.A., and ComedySportz Milwaukee & L.A..
On the big (movie) and small (tv) and smaller (Samsung Galaxy) screen, Dave has appeared on THE BIG BANG THEORY on CBS, BROOKLYN NINE-NINE on FOX, SANTA CLARITA DIET on NETFLIX, MR. NEIGHBOR'S HOUSE on ADULT SWIM, SINGLE PARENTS on ABC, FUTURE MAN on HULU, a bunch of commercials, and a whole lotta Funny or Die vids.
