This course introduces students to the long form improvisation structure known as "The Harold," developed by Del Close.
"The Harold" is a series of scenes inspired by a single suggestion that fit together into one cohesive half hour piece. Students learn how to 1) perform openings, 2) create scenes inspired by an opening 3) perform "group games," 4) second and third beats (returning to scenes later in the piece).
Course meets for 8 sessions, each 3 hours long.
Students will take part in a class performance, generally held at the UCB Theatre.
Students required to see at least 2 improvised shows at the UCB Theater before the end of the course.

Mike Leffingwell, teacher
Mike Leffingwell has worked as a writer for Dreamworks Animation Television, Hulu, and Reelz Channel. He's written material for the Onion News Network, the Late Late Show, My Damn Channel, and Reader's Digest. On TV Mike has appeared on The Goldbergs, Conan, and in several national commercials. Mike is a longtime teacher and performer at UCB LA, where he was a member of the first Harold team and has since performed with several teams, all with ridiculous names, as well as in his one-man shows Stupid Husbands and 12 Angry Men (the One Man Show). Currently Mike can be seen at UCB on the first and third Tuesday of every month playing with Teacher's Lounge. Mike Mike Mike!Registration Unavailable
