Students will learn the fundamentals of long-form improvisation including: agreement, active listening, playing characters, playing truthfully and to the top of your intelligence and group mind.

Understanding the fundamentals will be achieved through exercises and scene work in class, seeing improv shows at UCB Theatre and reading the UCB Comedy Improvisation Manual.

Students are required to see at least 2 improvised shows at UCB Theatre before the end of the course.

Course meets for 8 sessions, each 3 hours long.

Students will take part in a class performance, generally held at UCB Theatre.

Cissy Fenwick, teacher

Cissy Fenwick Cissy Fenwick began improvising ten years ago in Washington, DC where she was a member of the Washington Improv Theater. In 2007 Cissy starting taking classes at UCB LA. Cissy is a member of UCB house team JV. She is also a member of Brand New Ball and the improvised documentary team Werner Hotdog.

She loves tree houses.
