Simplifying Game with Alex Fernie
People seem to be really scared about the idea of "playing the game." This workshop will focus on demystifying that term and helping you play scenes that play game in real, honest and fun way. We'll cover creating fun and clear games in scenes, ways to heighten that are interesting and surprising, and support from the back line. If you feel terrified every time your coach asks "so, what was the game there", we can work on that!
Prerequisite: Improv 201
Class meets in Room #222
There are no refunds for this course.
Alex Fernie, teacher
Alex Fernie has been performing improv and sketch since moving to Los Angeles after graduating from Vassar College in 2004. He has a history degree and is happy to prove it. He can be seen performing weekly with Sentimental Lady and Convoy (which has been named "Best Improv Show" several times by LA Weekly) and co-hosts the monthly Required Viewing screening series. He has also performed in many other UCB shows including Smug Rock Nation, ASSSSCAT, Comedy Death-Ray, Crash Test, Quick & Dirty Musicals, Thirty:30 etc, etc, etc.
He has worked as a writer and/or director on shows like Childrens Hospital, Bajillion Dollar Properties, NTSF:SD:SUV::, Last Week Tonight & Hotwives of Orlando, and has created several television pilots for Comedy Central, Disney Amazon Studios and FX. In front of the camera, he's appeared on Terriers, Conan, Reno 911!, Key & Peele and a bunch of other stuff. No one believes that he grew up on a horse farm, but he did.
Why can't I register?
