Students will learn the fundamentals of long-form improvisation. Core concepts covered include using character agreement to make your scenes succeed, developing character, character status, object and environment work, “playing at the top of your intelligence,†and heightening (finding ways to make your scenes get funnier from start to finish).
This course also introduces the specific vocabulary of the UCB Training Center.
This course meets for 8 sessions that are each 3 hours long. At the end of the course, students will take part in a class performance, generally held at the UCB Theatre. Graduation is also contingent upon students seeing at least two improvised shows at the UCB Theater before the end of the course.
Class Size: 16 Students Class meets at MetaTheatre in West Hollywood

Amanda Sitko, Teacher
Amanda Sitko is an actor/writer/improviser who started performing at the Upright Citizens Brigade in 2006. She is a proud cast member of Coming Clean and can be seen in ASSSSCAT. Amanda has studied under Matt Besser, Matt Walsh, Ian Roberts and more. She is a member of the UCB Touring Company and currently teaches for the UCB Training Center.
Amanda has been seen in various shows at the UCB, including America's Best Comic, Sketch Cram, Dadquest, Soundtrack, and F'ed Up & Illegal Videos. Amanda’s Harold Teams have included: Cabbages & Kings, Perfect Crime, Panama, and Elroy. Amanda was also on the Maude teams Perfect Mess and Paddington. You can see her every Friday night, hosting Let’s Do This with Jennie Pierson. Amanda and Jennie co-wrote and performed in the 2 woman sketch show Amanda and Jennie: Best Friends, which went to the SF Sketchfest in 2008. Amanda has written for the 2010 Critics’ Choice Awards, Nickelodeon's Mighty B! and MTV's Popzilla.
