Each master class course offered at this level is instructor-driven. Students will get to study the Harold and related performance pieces at an advanced level and will receive in-depth personal feedback about their own performance and progress as improvisers.

Students will perform in two class performances at the UCB Theatre – once halfway through the course and once at the end. Graduation is also contingent upon students seeing at least two improvised shows at the UCB Theater before the end of the course.Class Size 16 students. IMPORTANT: PLEASE NOTE THE REFUND POLICY FOR ADVANCED STUDY / IMPROV 501 HAS CHANGED. THERE ARE NO REFUNDS STARTING 24 HOURS BEFORE THE FIRST SESSION (OR A FULL BUSINESS DAY FOR WEEKEND CLASSES).

Fundamentals of the Harold with Sean Conroy

Students will strengthen the tools of the Harold by doing a better job of taking information from openings, finding and heightening games quickly and efficiently, revisiting games properly in second and third beats, expanding group game vocabulary and making connections.

Class meets at The Complex in Hollywood

Admission to Advanced Study / Improv 501 is granted on review of previous class performance. Sean Conroy, Teacher

Sean Conroy has studied improvisation with every member of the Upright Citizens Brigade as well as Armando Diaz and Kevin Mullaney. He has performed stand-up comedy on Late Night with Conan O'Brien, Comedy Central's Premium Blend and Late Friday on NBC. His one-man show, Taught, was selected for the 2001 HBO U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, Colorado. He has written for Spike's Players, Comedy Central's Crossballs, UPN's Love Inc., Comedy Central's Dog Bites Man, and a cornucopeia of failed pilots. He has appeared in the feature films Happy Hour, Martin and Orloff, The Untitled Onion Sketch Movie and Blackballed: The Bobby Dukes Story. He improvised with Chicago City Limits in national tours and as a mainstage player in their Off-Broadway show. Sean is also a founding member of the longform improv group, The Swarm.

Sean currently performs every Saturday and Sunday in ASSSSCAT.
